micenet AUSTRALIA "thumbs up"

"Performing above limits… underground" was a 1200-word piece written by j2's Joanna Jordan and Carolynne Hassall and published in micenet Australia magazine, October/November 2012 (pages 24-25). The article was as an event professional's case study on the Thiess John Holland Tunnel Charity Dinner staged in July 2012. This particularly complex and challenging event experience earned j2 ideas & events a highly coveted micenet AUSTRALIA Editor's "thumbs up" accolade.

orchestrating Brisbane event 'firsts'

j2 ideas & events founder, Joanna Jordan, has been instrumental in achieving some of Brisbane's biggest event-related milestones:

Production manager of Brisbane's (then) first largest corporate lunch of 2,000 guests (2001 Goodwill Games Brisbane launch, BCEC Great Hall, 1999).

For six years, creatively directed the most logistically challenging pyrotechnics event in Australia, Riverfire, rated as such for number of firing sites across roof tops, barges, and bridges among other logistically complex components.

Floating the river stage up from Sydney to Brisbane River at South Bank (for concerts associated with 2001 Goodwill Games Brisbane 'RED' program).

j2 orchestrated the first official swim event in the Brisbane River (outside of 2001 Goodwill Games triathlon) for the opening of Goodwill Bridge. Following the success of this river swim, another Brisbane River swimming event was organised by j2 for 'Out of the Blue' as part of 2004 Senior's Week, in celebration of Blue Care's 50th Anniversary.

j2 ideas & events are arguably the most competent deliverers of community engagement events associated with major infrastructure projects. No other Queensland events company has the same level of experience and positive track record in this area:

j2 was contracted to event manage the Opening of The Goodwill Bridge in 2001. At the time, The Goodwill Bridge was a controversial landmark due to project delays and mishaps. Following the successful opening event, the public changed their view of The Goodwill Bridge, ultimately resulting in two further pedestrian bridges in Brisbane's City heart.

j2 partnered with Thiess John Holland for three years (2010 - 2012), facilitating safe and engaging public access to the construction environment of Australia's largest road infrastructure project, Airport Link Tunnel. These events have enabled thousands in our community to visit an underground working construction site, and have been delivered incident-free.

inspiring 'large' Queensland events

From 2010 - 2013, j2 has been event manager of the largest participation fun run in north Queensland – Gladstone Ports Corporation Botanic to Bridge, incorporating 8km and 3km courses and attracting at least 4,500 participants.

From 2008 - 2013, j2 was event manager of the largest charity bike ride in Queensland – Enerflex MS Brissie to the Bay, incorporating four courses including a 100km ride.
