Quick Facts

In 2014, commenced a relationship with Sekisui House working with them on their Ecco Ripley development opening events and activations.

With Peet, j2 has delivered events across two Queensland communities under development – Warner Lakes in north west Brisbane, and Flagstone Rise, located in Brisbane's south west. Peet’s program involves a variety of events held throughout the year, aimed at cultivating a sense of community:

mother's groups meetings

park openings

Christmas carol family evenings

Christmas lights competitions

special holiday events to celebrate occasions such as Easter and Halloween

community fitness programs

home and lifestyle expos

youth week celebrations

billboard competitions

Since June 2012, j2 has staged events with EDQ in Brisbane, Gladstone, Townsville and Moranbah. Over 800 visitors attended the Fitzgibbon Chase Family Fun Day in 2012.

Background

Sekisui House, EDQ and Peet have engaged j2 to assist with designing and implementing community activation strategies for a number of their Queensland based developments. These events strategies are aimed at connecting people with new sites, developments and the landscape and lifestyle of each.

Through event-based initiatives, land and property developers can inspire a deeper understanding in their target markets about forthcoming opportunities to reside and invest in these positive, active developments that are being ‘brought to life’ as new liveable communities.

J2 Services and Solutions

Event contracts with Sekisui House, EDQ and Peet have been about strategic planning first and foremost – aligning an event-focused series of initiatives with the organisations’ visions and business goals. However, j2 is also involved in the roll-out and delivery of each event

For community engagement events, where relevant, j2 provides:

Creative direction

Event management

Stakeholder liaison

Design of marketing materials and signage

Venue pageantry and theming

Entertainment and activity selection and management

Lighting and audiovisual design and management of contractors

Temporary infrastructure coordination and management of contractors

Production and stage management and oversight of event from bump in through bump out

Budget management and cost control

Risk mitigation and management

Level of Complexity

Each development across Queensland that j2 works in has a different project manager and set of objectives surrounding community and landscape. It is imperative that this is taken into account when planning events in these locations.

j2 often delivers events in a ‘blank canvass’ landscape – a levelled land development ready to be built upon and generally devoid of basic infrastructure and utilities, or the aesthetics of trees and grass. Our resourcefulness in the areas of creativity and operational expertise is put into play to design appealing and comfortable events that run smoothly.

Key Achievements

Creating a number of events for the Warner Lakes Community that, due to their success in the first year, will now be annual events.

Developing a Christmas event for the Flagstone Rise community that has been adopted by the local community as their annual celebration.

Working with the Flagstone Community College to develop an arts initiative that culminates with their students' artwork displayed on one of the key billboards in the development.

Delivering three events for EDQ (formerly ULDA) in Brisbane, Gladstone and Townsville in the space of three weeks in June 2012. All of these were new developments j2 had not worked in previously.

Attracting over 800 visitors to the Fitzgibbon Chase Family Fun Day, providing families with a sneak peak of the new Community Centre. The way j2 planned the event also showcased the adjacent bush land and "tracks and trails" to visitors, highlighting a wonderful natural resource available to the community.

Stakeholder feedback

“I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know how wonderful Mel and Holly were on Saturday. The event was so well set up and was exceptionally run, there wasn't a question they couldn't answer or an issue they couldn't deal with! The team and I are so grateful for all of their hard work and the effort they put in on Friday and Saturday”.

Sarah Thompson – Marketing Officer, Economic Development Queensland
(re Bushlark Grove community activation, Moranbah, 2012)

"Thanks Mel & Jo for your hard work making this event run so well… Well done."

Billie Stevic – Project Marketing Executive, Peet Limited
(re Halloween at Warner Lakes, 2012)

"The praise for the Warner Lakes Tree Day event keeps coming. The Community Line received an email this morning from a Warner Lakes resident thanking Peet for putting on such an 'excellent and well-organised event' for Tree Day. She said her entire family had a terrific morning. She is a regular at the Warner Lakes events. It's also great to see residents getting involved and loving their community."
