Background j2 ideas & events was appointed as Producer and Director of The Shared Gift Fire Event. This was the evening welcome event for the 2003 Rotary International Convention held in Brisbane. The story of The Shared Gift was concepted by indigenous artist Ramona 'Mun Mun' Cavanagh following a meeting with the President of the International Rotary Convention about the history of Rotary. The brief was for j2 to bring Ramona's story of The Shared Gift to life on the Brisbane River, through the use of storytelling, fire, pyrotechnic effects and music. J2 Services and Solutions Under the artistic direction of j2's Joanna Jordan, a 20 minute soundtrack was developed featuring the music of Aboriginal musician Adrian Ross and narration by Indigenous artist Jeanette Fabila. The visual creative of the river-based show was then developed by j2 in conjunction with Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics. |
Level of Complexity Many new effects and concepts were incorporated into the event, including gas-fired sculptures and water-based pyrotechnics. Key Achievements The event succeeded in meeting the vision of Romana 'Mun Mun' Cavanagh and the high expectations of Rotary International.
